Marathon

Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon

Type

City, Road. 26,000 runners in marathon, half and 5K. 6 hour cut off for marathon.

Course

The course tours the city before heading out along the waterfront. Some long out and backs. Relatively fast with downhill start and slight uphill finish.

Expo

On the edge of city centre – free shuttle buses from downtown locations. Lots of stalls and exhibits. Busy on Saturday.

Start-line facilities/Aid Stations

Corral start. Plenty of toilets. Bag drop available. Water and Gatorade at aid stations and gels in two places.

Medal/T-shirt/Goody Bag

Good quality medal and t-shirt. Extra medals for first three in each Age-Category.

Accommodation

A variety of accommodation in city. We stayed at the Soho Metropolitan Hotel which was excellent and a 10min walk to the start.

Restaurants

Again plenty of choice but worth booking Saturday night if you want something particular like pasta. We ate at Scaddabush Italian Kitchen & Bar.

Comments

We really enjoyed this friendly event and our time in Toronto. It was a lovely place to run. See our blog post ‘Walk Gently on the Land’ for more information about our trip. Beware that it can be very cold – temperatures didn’t rise much above freezing for us on race day and throw-away tops were worn throughout. Take gloves hats etc.
