Course
Flat and Fast. No congestion as roads so wide but usually results in participants running extra distance. Try to follow blue line.
Expo
Large expo. Well organised – short queues for number pick-up. Easy to change pen.
Start Line / Aid Stations
Queues for toilets but reasonably well provided. Wave start. Long aid stations – easy to access. No bottles. Water, sports drink and iced tea. Gels and fruit in places. Showers and alcohol-free beer at end.
Medal/Tshirt/Goody Bag
Good quality medal. T-shirt costs extra. Wrist band for free transport. Sponge in goody bag.
Accommodation
Huge choice but expensive on marathon weekend.
Restaurants
Again huge choice.
Comments
Ballot entry for this popular marathon. Difficult to pick-up someone else’s number. Have to choose between bag drop or poncho and cannot change. The finish is beyond the Brandenburg Gate – don’t sprint too early.
